New Year Resolutions

Before I begin I want to congratulate all of you for making it through another year. For all your accomplishments and hardships you have definitely proven yourself of your values and self-worth. *insert applause here*

With 2016 beginning I wanted to discuss about my opinion over New Year Resolutions. When I was younger I would set New Year Resolutions, "I want to be more sociable, gain more friends", "I want to grow more taller", "I want to be less shy and speak out", "Wear more makeup so that people will see me for my actual age". Those for the gist of it were my New Year Resolutions. Not many of my resolutions consisted of materialistic items or gaining more financially but more so the resolutions were made to fix some of the things that I thought were wrong with me. I thought if I were to change these aspects of myself that I would soon be fitting in with the crowd and be more likable. I thought that people would take more interest in me and would be more likely to give me a chance. Then as I grew up and realized that some of my resolutions were just not possible to complete, I have started to not believe in New Year Resolutions. Why do I have to wait for a whole year to make goals for myself? Then after making those goals not follow through with them? Weren't resolutions supposed to make me feel better about myself?

You cannot expect to have a behavior to change in a matter of a day's time, if that was possible then my anxiety would have already left by now. I wish I could just say goodbye to my anxiety but it does not work that way. Changing a behavior takes time and I believe that many resolutions fall apart in the same month they were made because we expect an immediate change. For those who are considering to be healthier remember that bad habits are hard to break but those habits should not be the reason why you should quit. Those habits should be the ones you are working at to change and if you maintain the attitude that you can change something, then you can change something. Be healthier does not have to mean losing weight it could also be quitting to smoke, removing drugs from your life, taking more walks, taking your prescribed medication and vitamins and or reducing the amount of sugar intake. Being healthier means to find that happy medium where you feel good both physically and mentally. Where you wake up one day and you can freely say that I am happy to be where I am today, that is when you know you are heading in the right direction. You are already beautiful so continue being fabulous on your route to better health!

For those who have new year resolutions to better themselves whether is through changing studying habits, parenting habits, working habits, relationships, or general habits set yourself mini goals. Since you know the big picture from the looks of making the resolution, with these mini goals this can help you gain the confidence you need to continue pushing through your set resolution. If you can have someone you can confide yourself and will be willing to give you the extra pushes needed when you have those days where you want to throw in the towel. Remember to celebrate your mini milestones along the way but maintain within your goal. Limit your cheat days to when you absolutely need to let yourself free from your routine. Never compare your milestones with others because each and every one of you has a different value that only you know how well you did that day. In fact instead of discouraging, why not share your courage with others?

Just know that at anytime you can make resolutions to improve yourself. You do not have to wait until the next year or for the next opportunity. It's like saying "Oh I'll wait until night time to look at the moon at its full glory" when we all know that the moon is always around in the sky you just need to remember to look up. Make your own deadlines, shoot for your own stars, everyone rides on their own wave and by that you should be able to have control in your own life. I do not believe in New Years Resolution, because I believe that everyone should have already settled on some goals they want to complete before they leave this planet. If you need that push to start and it happens to be during New Years then use this time as your catapult to start. I am all for self improvement. I believe in all of you that you can do anything if you only set your mind to it. Do not forget to be proud of yourself too for as minimal progress you are doing, that is still progress and I will continue to cheer you on. Do not lose who you are but more so build yourself to become the best you, that you can be.

What are your goals?

Day 20: Celebrity crushes

I probably didn't start having celebrity crushes until I was like fifteen or sixteen, and even then I would just admire how successful some of those celebrities turned out to be. Sometimes I thought that I was not a normal teenager for not having strong a liking to people who I did not know personally so whenever my friends would talk about their celebrity crushes I was kind of like the late bloomer who sat in the sidelines that just gave the thumbs up of approval. Until I got a bit older and started to realize that I wasn't developing celebrity crushes because I just haven't met the right celebrities to simply jaw drop in their direction. So here are some celebrity crushes that I have developed throughout my time of discover.

Anne Hathaway - She has pretty much been my role model growing up, appearing in movies that I have seen at a young age. Not much gossip I have heard about her and every time I see her on the Ellen Degeneres Show makes me really proud to see her in total confidence and wrapped in success but still be a genuine person inside. I don't find many celebrities that are free willingly to thank everyone for being in the position she is and not be power hungry.
Prince Royce - My first ever man crush! This is a moment where I don't know if I loved his music first before him or vice versa. When I saw him on the Voice Kids, I would go so jealous that the kids who auditioned and were selected was able to have some one on one time with Prince Royce... I wish I had some one on one time with him... And I will keep waiting for that one on one time!
Taylor Kitsch - I like to think a very lovely teacher of mine for introducing me to Friday Night Lights and for allowing me to get to know the fine cast of this show. Kitsch plays the role of Tim Riggins who was a popular jock in the show. He was the running back in the Dillon Panthers football team. Even with a short close haircut Kitsch looks mighty fine... But of course, I prefer his long hair, makes him look like a more charming gentleman.
Zach Gilford - Another actor from Friday Night Lights, he plays the role of Matt Saracen the quarterback of the Dillon Panthers football team. With each episode that I watched I grew more in love with his character which made me adore him as a person. Even though he may be seen as just a replacement in the show, I would say that he was the main reason why I was watching Friday Night Lights.
Emmy Rossum - Lastly, Emmy Rossum in which I met her in the movie You're Not You which just had me in a ball of emotions. Such a lovely movie and I want to say it was because of the amazing cast that was chosen to fit the roles of the characters. Playing the role of Bec, I thought her acting was spot on. Vulgar tougher shell with a soft center, her character Bec went through a massive transformation in the movie and all in a well transition. Nothing was cheesy between her relationship with Kate (Hilary Swank) and at that last scene I just lost myself. Brilliant movie, and actress. I also couldn't stop thinking about how pretty she was even though most of her outfits were laidback, she did rock them.

What are your celebrity crushes?

Being Small

There isn't a time I remember when I was average size
Where my mother did not have to explain her friends that I was actually seventeen
And to this day I hear my father's voice that we measure our foreheads to the skies
But that did not stop everyone else from questioning that I was a teen

Days went by where I tell myself being small is perfectly fine
Until I go to school and I hear people whispering about me like I don't hear them
Sometimes I wish I turned around and told them to back off before I get them in line
But what difference will that make?

Shopping has a whole new story of its own
To pick out shoes is such a chore
Nothing would fit, I felt so prone
Little girl shoes are all that fit me, at this point I just wanted to leave the store

My doctor informs me that growing is no longer a choice
That what I got, is what I got
And when I saw him again I would stand tall even though I was losing my voice
Was God putting me on the spot?

My self-confidence plummeted and I could not make ends meet
What if my mom said yes to inject me with hormones?
Would I have grown to reach five feet?
Will that make me feel normal?

Looking through pictures, I stand out
As time went on I started getting comfortable in my skin
To find some sense of doubt
Should not cause my head to spin

I will wear my size two converse with pride
Show the world that I am not weak
And all the criticism from people to slide
Because being small is quite unique

This morning I came across this video on Facebook about a group of poetry teenagers called Get Lit where they speak about current events. I thought this was very jaw dropping and inspiring that even I wrote my own poem to talk about the situation that small people come across on a daily basis. Although these events I speak about may seem minimal, you will not understand the struggle unless actually have small feet or people speaking behind your back like you're at some freak show on display. Just know for these insecurities, it is what makes you stand out and shine especially for being able to accept them or overcome these insecurities.

(Bare with me that I do not normally record myself aha)

What is a insecurity that inspires you to prove others wrong?

Strong or stronger?

Hi everyone one, I apologize for not posting yesterday but today I was speaking to a great friend of mine and the topic of being a strong person came up.

First of all, everyone may have problems whether they're the size of the Himalayas or as a tiny as a grain of sand, since when was asking for help a sign of weakness? Which in fact I think of as the first step of recovery, the realization that you cannot manage and need someone else because you recognize your problem whether than pushing it aside until another problem comes along and stacks on top. There is only so many problems we can stack up until the volcano erupts hurting everyone in sight. Though the beauty of an eruption is that you create new beautiful things. The truth comes up burns the surface and your new beginning gives fruit. Solving your problems opens a new window of opportunity and uplifts your mind from the fog.

Secondly, strength is measured through the experiences you have gone through, which all of you have gone through a few. Congratulations, you're strong so stop underestimating yourself and grab the help you need or find the conclusion to your issue yourself and prove that you can overcome that obstacle. Please stop hiding the fact that you may be tearing apart inside, there is always someone out there who is willing to listen to you and although they made not give you the proper advice just know that you're not alone. Think of that support system I've mentioned a few days ago and build yourself up from there.

Lastly, starting something new is always the greatest struggle but as the days go by what may seem so difficult a few days ago, is now somewhat bearable. Be patient, like I told my friend everything happens for a reason and instead of searching for that answer that you stubbornly try to solve, try to find a way to the answer. Answers come through experience, so eventually that experience will come along and you'll find the answer you've been looking for. It is okay to not know something, that's the lovely thing about learning. (Honestly the more you know, the more you question...) Do not just sit there and think of the millions of possibilities, you will only overwhelm yourself and not get anywhere. Turn the page of your story, accept the things you can't change and continue moving forward with the things you can change.

I don't want to see anyone struggling alone, I hope this helps.
Reminder, take care of yourself before you can take care of others.

What is a obstacle in your life that you overcame and how did you feel afterwards?

How much are you covering?

"Who are you impressing today?"

Is like every time I do my hair I am asked that. Wearing good looking clothes? You're asked the same question. Wearing clothes out of your normal style? The question pops up once again. Wearing makeup or putting a little bit of extra accessories on? Exactly.

My answer? I do not dress to impress.

Now that answer may have different definitions.

  1. I can careless as to what I wear.
  2. I can careless about what people think of what I wear, it is for my self benefit and comfort.
  3. Since when did I start to impress others?
  4. At least I am dressed and not getting tickets for public disturbance.
I dress the way I am to represent the person I am and sometimes the person I am likes to change things up a bit. Just as repeating that question over and over again can get tiring, repeating the same look can get tiring. A bit of change is healthy. Being in the comfort zone can get a bit stuffy and we need to get out for some fresh air filled with new ideas. To remove yourself out of the comfort zone is already difficult as it is, so why must someone make it more difficult to question our actions? Do not assume that the changes made is not the main purpose of impressing others or for a particular someone, but more to prove that you are much more than the person people may think you are. And if you are impressing someone, I am sure they will be stunned either way. Wear whatever it is that makes you happy whether it is the new suede pumps you bought, lipstick in the shade of purple, or a tight attire to emphasis your figure. Instead of people implying that you look beautiful/handsome, they should just straightly tell you (come on, why else would they ask?). I think people may ask this overused question is because they wish they could do the same thing you are doing, and that is to not be afraid of wanting to wear what they liked and bought. Just as negativity could be infectious, positive outputs could also strike chords. It all depends on how the person decides to view it though so be patient. They will soon realize that they could also dress to not impress. For now just ignore the question and do not let it stop you, each fashion trend has to start out someway, right?

What is your favorite piece of clothing/makeup/accessory that makes you stand out from others and make you happy?

Recalculating

There are just moments in life where you seem that you have everything together, you find yourself content with the life you've decided to take, and you sense that nothing can go wrong. As swift and easy, negativity comes rushing through you like the plague and steals away all the confidence that took you so long to build up. Now let me tell you that is probably one of the worst feelings to experience because it's not a outside source that is causing the problem (though it could be a factor) but you also play the role as the predator of your own thoughts with what you see. Interpretation and perspective can be deadly when they're put together. There is no avoiding it, there will be people, posts, books, music, pretty much anything that can inspire and or dissuade you from the person you want to become. Sometimes it is not even your fault because I believe that people change for their own benefit and depending on what it is (though that may not always be the case), that is up to you to decide to keep that person in your life or continue without them. Let me ask you, do you love yourself? Do you love the life you molded yourself into? If you answered yes for both questions then there is nothing wrong with you and if you want to enrich your life I think you should do it. Do not forget about the people who helped you get to where you are and the experiences you have gone through because they are the reason for the path you've chosen. If you answered no for one or both questions, what is it that you want in life? What are some things you can fix that can get you back onto the right path? Do not be afraid to ask for help, but also be careful who you ask for help. The changes you make does not always have to be anything major because even the little changes make a large impact. I will not lie, it's confusing because I do not have an exact answer to give you to overcome this because everyone has different methods of coping but if you're starting to become unhappy then maybe you're going the wrong way. Retract your steps if you have to and hopefully it will newly enlighten the light inside of you. Remember just like Jessie J said, "It's okay not to be okay" but it's not okay to sit there and do nothing about it either.
